In another attempt at creating a future we want to see, Flickline is pleased to announce that our first guest speaker for the inaugural 'FLI (with us)' session is none other than Sarah Hokom!
Sarah is former stand out university volleyball player and a disc golf world champion. She has won over 60 professional disc golf events including three majors and six National Tour events. Although she is best known for her prolific sidearm drives, Sarah has also made a name for herself as one of the more outspoken advocates for women in sport and pushed for more equitable pay for female prize money. Her speech at this year's Disc Golf Pro Tour conference was one of the most passionately delivered and it helped make her the perfect fit for our first ever 'FLI (with us)' guest speaker.
These guest speaker sessions are a part of the Female Leadership Initiative (FLI) that was created earlier this year between Flickline Disc Golf and Discmania with the ambitious goal in mind of increasing the number of women participating in Canadian disc golf by at least 5% nationally by the end of 2023.
Every women who signs up for the FLI program receives a Discmania disc, mini, and stickers designed by females from all across Canada. They also get access to these monthly zoom sessions with FPO players and female contributors who are involved in many different aspects of the game.
The first session will take place this Monday, April 3, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. CT (8:30 p.m. ADT) and will be centred around ways to help make the female experience better. There will also be time set aside for a Q&A with Sarah.
